Livestock Reproductive Services at Jackpot Veterinary Center
We offer a variety of reproductive services for cattle, including:
Artificial (Assisted) Insemination
Our farm animal veterinarians can examine your cattle to help you with the proper timing of their ovulation cycles. This enables to identify windows of fertility to facilitate highly successful artificial insemination.
Pregnancy Palpation and Ultrasound
We follow up assisted insemination with pregnancy palpation and ultrasound to confirm conception and recommend the most appropriate ongoing pregnancy care plan, or to schedule another round of artificial insemination.
Breeding Soundness Examinations
Our veterinarians perform thorough breeding soundness examinations.
For cows/heifers a physical exam and or ultrasound may be performed.
For bulls a physical exam, semen evaluation and trichomoniasis testing is provided.
These examinations ensure that your farm animals will be able to reproduce successfully and produce healthy offspring.
Bovine Trichomoniasis Testing
Trichomoniasis (trich) does not produce outward symptoms in bulls. However, the disease does have a significant impact on the reproductive capabilities of cattle. So, routine trich testing is highly recommended and necessary for reproducing bulls. Trich testing is performed by collecting a swab sample and looking at it under a microscope.
