Equine Alternative Therapy

At Jackpot Veterinary Center, we are proud to provide our equine patients with well-rounded veterinary care. We integrate traditional western medicine with alternative holistic therapies, to improve treatment outcomes and optimize performance.

What Is Alternative, Holistic Medicine?

While traditional, western veterinary medicine focuses on the prevention and treatment of diseases using treatment strategies that include medications, vaccines, and surgery. Holistic veterinary medicine focuses on treatments that are designed to enhance and promote the body’s natural, innate ability to heal itself and be well.
Holistic therapies work hand-in-hand to complement traditional veterinary medicine, helping our equine patients achieve the best possible treatment outcomes.

Alternative, Holistic Therapies for Horses

The following alternative treatment modalities are available for equine patients of Jackpot Veterinary Center:

Class IV Laser Therapy

Class IV laser therapy, also known as cold laser therapy, uses a medical laser that emits laser light at a specific wavelength that has been scientifically proven to trigger a healing response with the release of important enzymes at the cellular level in the body.
Cold laser therapy can be used to accelerate recovery following an injury or surgery and to reduce the painful inflammation that occurs as a result of several musculoskeletal conditions.

PulseVet Shock Wave Therapy

This non-invasive treatment uses high-energy sound waves to promote healing and relieve pain in horses. It effectively treats tendon and ligament injuries, arthritis, and other musculoskeletal conditions, speeding up recovery and improving performance and mobility. This therapy is a valuable tool for maintaining equine health.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture uses special needles, strategically placed to release blockages throughout the body’s nervous system. Working with a certified equine acupuncturist, horses can get relief from a variety of ailments and improve their performance.

Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care focuses on correcting misalignments of the spine/limbs that occur as a result of physical and emotional stresses on horses. Aligning your horse’s nervous system and musculoskeletal system allows your horse to function properly.

What Equine Conditions Can Be Addressed With Alternative Therapies?

Alternative therapies can be used to address and improve a variety of conditions in horses that are primarily associated with health problems of the musculoskeletal system such as degenerative joint diseases like osteoarthritis, inflammation and swelling, injuries, and wounds.
Our alternative therapies are used in conjunction with traditional veterinary treatments to address issues such as soft tissue wounds, musculoskeletal injuries, DSLD, arthritis, anhidrosis, neurological conditions, and back pain in horses.
